Default mp3 player battle

Hey, recently i broke my Creative zen and now i want a new one. However i cant decide between my old Creative ZEN 16gb or Creative X-Fi 16gb. Maybe some of you has ideas about this dillema. X-Fi is a bit more expensive, but the design looks better. And does X-Fi has some built in flashcard? Please tell me all you know, i have read some revievs, but still, i would like to hear something from normal people.

I've got the 8gb Xen X-Fi.

Yeah it's flash memory so it's less likely to break, i've dropped mine on numerous occasions and nothing bad's happened Got an SD card slot too if that appeals.

I haven't actually tried to even use the wifi functionality, i don't have a router or wireless at uni so i can't use it anyway but it works perfectly in the old plug in and sync way.

It's got decent radio, good sound quality even in my shitty bitrate songs, screens brilliant (mines on lowest brightness and its never not enough). Video playbacks actually decent for once and i've happily watched films on it, not like most things where it feels like it doesnt fit into the device.

Its got a DJ function for making several different automatic playlists which again is good. The playlist making on the go is pretty tiresome but doable, you can't edit them after you've made them though as far as i can tell which is annoying.

Its very easy to use and its design is quite nice, aesthetically too.

I've only ever had one gripe with it, that being the hold/on switch on the back. It's not bad or at all unusable it's just bloody odd.

I'd get the x-fi but i have no idea how good the original zens were lol.

My mum has a Zen and it's pretty crap actually. Freezes pretty often, buttons won't always work and more shit like that. Got it like 2 months ago but she doesn't want to trade it in for some stupid reason.

But yeah don't buy an iPod.

Fowlero, nice review, thanks. How long do you have this player?

And Earth, probably your mom just got some crap from local grocery store, couse mine was working great till someone dropped it out from second floor.

Got it for my birthday so about 4 months, very happy with it. It's frozen twice but i find nearly all mp3 players do that near full capacity anyway, just reset it and its worked fine after both times.

Only thing i'd mention is it comes with pretty lame earphones, i just used the ones i've always used but the cable on the ones supplied look like you could just pull apart easily and their sound wasn't amazing when i tried them, might be personal preference though.

But yeah i'd recommend

My mum's Sandisk mp3 player has been through the washing machine 3 times (Don't ask!) and it still works very well. I definitely recommend them for a good quality product with good parts, I think it's nearly 4 years old now.

Sony NWZ

Good build quality, standard ears phones are pretty good and the pre-sets are also above average.

Easy to use software, but drag and drop from windows media player is easier.

Cheap as chips too.

My choice would be a Sandisk or Samsung one. Sony is good, but too overpriced.

Highly recommend this player. Really solid in every category and excellent sound quality + headphones are better than the stock trash you find with most mp3 players. I've got the S639 coming in from Scotland (I live in Australia) and even including shipping + conversion from pounds to AU$ it still worked out to be cheaper than my local equivalent.

Cowon's are amazing and the S9 is probably the strongest player out on the market at the moment, if your prepared to fork out the cash. If your getting one of these monsters make sure to buy a decent set of ear/headphones to make use of the players unparalleled SQ.

Checked the specs on it, those things look pretty awesome. Now my Sansa Fuze is put to shame.

heh, thanks for answers. Now i have in my mind too mp3 players but i still can't choose between ZEN x-fi and Sandisk Sansa View.
Now the thing, that will make the final point of my decision will be this one - Does anyone have THIS player. I want to know if when you are scrolling trough the songs, can you use some kind of alphabetical function ( i mean, you take the letter 'a' and you see all the artists/songs/albums (in the right menu ofcourse) that start with 'a', you take the letter 'g' and you see all artists/songs/albums that start with letter 'g')? For example in Creative products, you can see alphabet in the right side of the screen, on iPods you get your letters while scrolling.

Damn i hope you get the point of what i mean couse my English is so bad
Thanks for understanding.

my last player was the sansa e280 which looks like it has the same firmware so unless they've updated it doesnt as mine definately didnt have the alphabet function, it does loop round when you scroll though from a-z.

tbh though it scrolls very fast when you want it though so i didnt find it much of an issue at all.
